Twisted Wheel at Jersey Live 5th & 6th September 2009 (by Jane)
With the Milano Urban Festival last weekend and Camden mid week, my jet setting lifestyle (yeah thats a laugh) this weekend took me on the short trip over to the Channel Islands (with a plane load of OAPs that were clearly not heading towards the same final destination as me!), to the beautiful island of Jersey for the Jersey Live Festival where Twisted Wheel were due to play on both days: Saturday in the Les Inrocks tent and Sunday on the Main Stage.

The Les Inrocks Stage, was inside the smallest marquee ever, it would'nt have looked out of place at a village fete, so consequently, before the Wheel were even near the place, it was bursting at the seams, with many people having to watch from outside just to see the best band of the weekend. The good people of Jersey only get this one weekend to enjoy live bands, so they were determined that they werent going to miss Twisted Wheel. Before they took to the stage tho, much to the crowd's delight, Jonny made a point of chatting to all the local fans crowded at the front of the barrier. Then it was down to business.
First up, the usual opener, 'Lucy the Castle' with the fans jumping and singing along. During 'Strife' Jonny let the crowd sing the chorus, which was really good to hear. 'Circus' was still kept in the set this evening, which I was really pleased about and explained to some fans who asked me (why me?) that it was the B side to 'Lucy The Castle' and promptly told them they can still get it on iTunes! 'You Stole The Sun' got the young crowd 'moshing' with beer being thrown in the air for good measure too, the fun carried on to the end of the set, even during 'Turnaround' as the great guitar solo kept the pace up beautifully. All too soon the opening chords to 'We Are Us' signalling the last song of the night came, the young Jersey crowd not wanting the lads to stop, but the organisers wouldnt let them play on as there was a strict time limit rule that had to be ahered to.
'Lucy The Castle'
'Bad Candy'
'She's A Weapon'
'Let Them Have It All'
'Strife'
'Circus'
'You Stole The Sun'
'Oh What Have You Done'
'Turnaround'
'We Are Us'
A brilliant set once again, played with their unparralled determination and passion that delighted the Jersey crowd, many saying that they would be making to trip over to the mainland for Twisted Wheel's headline tour in October/November (details on the side bar of this stie)
The next time that you can catch Twisted Wheel play live is at the Whitehaven One Big Boof Festival on 26th September - details again are on the side bar... see you there...
